In 2015, I was exhausted to the bone - physically, mentally, and emotionally. With Icelandic roots and a deep longing for nature, I booked a weeklong stay with my entire family, hoping to find rest and reconnection.

Tucked away north of Gimli, our cabin became a sanctuary. We wandered along the lakeshore, breathed in the crisp air, and meandered down to the farmers’ market for fresh produce and sweet treats. But more than the beauty of the surroundings, it was the warmth of the cabin that embraced us. You could feel it—it wasn’t just a rental; it was a family home, and Sandy made sure it felt like one.

That week, I rediscovered balance and peace in a way I hadn’t in years. I loved it so much we came back again. And now, years later, we’ve planted roots of our own, buying a cabin just a stone’s throw away from the place that first reminded me what it means to truly unwind.
